Laughter around the Tabletop

Last night we laughed - and Board games were the cause. A few friends, some social drinks and lots of Board games meant a really cracker kick off to the weekend. I hope I'm helping to revive the Board game as an acceptable social event; I think it's working. 

I'm aiming to have them every 4-6 weeks; with around 8 or so people interested, it seems to be going well so far. I've hosted 2, and someone else has hosted 1. Last night another person offered to host the next one.

I haven't been happy with the "hosting" side of it though. My background requires me to provide a million different types of cooked food, and my personality requires a perfect environment, with atmosphere, music, comfortable furniture etc etc.

What I need to make the hosting of functions a bit easier:

1. A bigger dining room table
2. At least 6 dining room chairs
3. Rugs (none of these until Oscar shuffles off to catch up with Lucy in dog heaven)
4. Storage units in the Dining/Lounge area, to store placemats, board games, coasters, serviettes etc and to put candles on top of
5. Lamps
6. Some furniture, rugs etc in the front area.

And a plan for finger food, next time. Hmmm, let's pop that one down for tomorrow's To Do list......

PS Thank you Tabletop for helping reinvigorate my enthusiasm for playing board games, and wanting to share that enjoyment with others.

Say Anything - a great party game, best played with a larger group of people you know, but lots of fun really with anyone. Lobby the Judge towards your answer and win points. Really know the people you're playing with, or just be creative!

Absolute Balderdash - that's the name of the version I have. Very funny, and creative, although can be sometimes frustrating for those that can't be inventive on the spot. Everyone (just about) last night got right into the spirit of it.

 Get Bit - A quick and easy to play game, good for kids or as an ice breaker. Can be funny if everyone gets into the spirit of it :-) A little bit of strategy helps.

 The Logo Board Game - a firm favourite with our Tabletop group, fun and everyone can play. Advertising questions that can make you think, and realise you don't quite know the details you think you do. And everyone elses questions are EASY!

Zombie Dice - another quick and easy game, also a good ice breaker. This one started the night off with a bang, as the rules are easy to understandin 2 minutes and there's tension right from the start. Bonus is it's only a handful of dice, so it transports well.
