Well this was one hell of a game. They had played Rivermount before...it was the first game of the season, and it was a bit of a walkover.
Not so this time...this time Rivermount brought their A team...or as Kerry liked to call them...the "ring in's".
Whatever is was, these girls were much better, and put a lot of pressure on our side.
It wasn't really until the second half that our girls really kicked into gear and started playing hard.
First half and they were down 21-8.
Within 3 minutes after half time it was 21-20, mostly due to Jenna scoring 3 shots in quick succession!!!! Go JENNA!!!!
They really kicked it up a notch, and put a lot of pressure (or "hussle", as Kerry calls it) on their attack.
Into the last quarter and it was Canterbury in the lead with some sweet passing, and aggressive defense.

And then Rivermount brought on their subs...the whole team switched, and ALL the key players were on the court for the last few minutes of the game.
Bingo...it was angry, snatching, slapping basketball. Really aggressive...
Last 30 seconds of the game, and Canterbury was in the lead by 1 point.
And our poor girls were knackered...couldn't hold off the defense, and Rivermount scored 2 quick shots...to end up winning the game by 3 points.
As the coach said though, she couldn't have been prouder of them, for coming out in the second half and really giving their all.

There's a great photo of Jenna at the end of this game, in absolute teary exhaustion...she wouldn't let me post it...but it really says it all.
She had not an ounce left to give the game.
....and that's how you want to play...give everything you've got, 'cause after the whistle, it's all too late.

Not a bad motto for life really!
